How much does a company website cost?

Most of the spread between quotes is scope nobody said out loud. Here is what each route costs, what moves the number, and what you keep paying after launch.

Short answer

A company website costs from about $10 a month on a DIY builder to $50,000 or more for custom agency work. Freelancers often charge $500 to $5,000 for a small site, and Clutch reports most web design projects reviewed on its platform cost under $10,000. Price follows unique page layouts, who writes the copy, the CMS, and any migration.

What Each Route Gets You

A DIY builder is the cheapest route in cash and the most expensive in your time. Framer's Basic plan starts at $10 a month and Webflow's Basic site plan is $15 a month billed yearly. You get hosting and a template; the design, the copy and the decisions are yours.

Freelancers cover the widest range. Lean Labs puts flat freelance projects at $500 to $5,000, and LanderLab puts a basic freelance landing page at about $500 to $1,500. At the low end you are paying someone to fill in a template. At the high end you can get real design, but it rests on one person's availability.

Agencies cost the most and take the longest. Lean Labs puts custom agency projects at $15,000 to $50,000, and Clutch's 2026 pricing guide reports an average reviewed project of about $38,105 over roughly seven months, pulled up by large outliers. A studio sits between: a small senior team, a fixed scope, and a price agreed before work starts.

What Actually Drives the Price

Page count matters less than you think.

The unit of cost is a unique layout, not a page. Twenty pages built from three layouts is a three layout job. Five pages that each look different is a five layout job, and it can cost more despite being a quarter of the size.

The other big driver is copy. Most companies have a feature list, not a page someone finishes reading. If a quote does not mention who writes the words, it assumes you will.

  • Unique layouts: each one is designed and built separately.
  • Copy: written from scratch or pasted from what you send.
  • CMS: a blog or case study collection your team can edit.
  • Motion: scroll and hover behaviour designed rather than left at the default.
  • Languages: Framer charges $20 per extra locale and Webflow's Localize add-on starts at $9 a month, before translation and layout work.
  • Integrations: forms, CRM, booking and analytics wired up and tested.

Landing Page, Full Site or Redesign

A landing page is one argument on one page. It is the cheapest to build and the hardest to write, because there is nowhere else to explain anything. A full site adds navigation, more layouts and usually a CMS, which is where most of the extra cost comes from.

A redesign of a site that already ranks is a different job from a new build. Every URL that changes needs a redirect, titles and descriptions need carrying across, and the sitemap has to land on launch day. That work should appear as a line in the quote. If nobody is finding the current site, skip it and pay for none of it.

No-Code or Code

The platform changes who pays later, not just now.

A no-code build is usually faster and lets your team edit without a developer, so the upfront cost is lower. A coded build costs more to make because every change is development time: Upwork puts advanced freelancers at $60 to $120 an hour or more, and Clutch puts shortlisted agencies at $100 to $149 an hour in the US.

Running costs differ too. A builder charges for the site plan and for editor seats. A coded site on a host like Vercel starts at $20 a month per developer seat on its Pro plan, plus the developer time to change anything. We compare the two in detail in no-code or code.

The Costs After Launch

The build is not the last bill. Expect the site plan, the domain, editor seats and some maintenance. On Framer, extra editors cost $20 each; on Webflow, a full workspace seat is $39 a month billed yearly. DesignRush estimates maintenance at $500 to $2,000 or more a year.

Ask any quote what the site costs to run for a year, and who you call when the headline needs changing. If the answer is the person who built it, every small edit becomes a new invoice.

Where Berryn Fits

At Berryn the website comes inside the full brand: designed and live on your domain, alongside the logo, type and colour system, positioning and messaging. It is not a separate line. See what a Berryn brand includes.

If you only need a website, we price it before we start, based on the scope above, and the price does not move. Never by the hour. Avalanche Tech went from a generated logo to a brand system for three divisions plus a landing page in 10 days; read how, or see how we build websites.

Our take

Make every quote state its scope, then compare. Ask for the number of unique layouts, who writes the copy, whether there is a CMS, and what migration is included. Most of the gap between a $2,000 quote and a $40,000 quote disappears once those four answers are on paper. If you have no brand yet, buying the site first means designing it twice, which is why ours comes inside the brand. If you just need a template filled in quickly, a freelancer or a DIY builder is the cheaper and better choice.

FAQ

Questions people ask

  • How much does a small business website cost?

From about $10 to $30 a month if you build it yourself on a builder, around $500 to $5,000 from a freelancer, and $15,000 to $50,000 or more for custom agency work. Clutch reports most web design projects reviewed on its platform cost under $10,000.

  • Why are website quotes so different?

Because "website" covers everything from a filled-in template to a multi-language site with a CMS and migrated URLs. Ask each quote for the number of unique layouts and who writes the copy, and most of the spread goes away.

  • How much does a landing page cost?

LanderLab puts a basic freelance landing page at about $500 to $1,500 and an agency landing page at about $1,000 to $5,000 or more. The writing is usually harder than the design.

  • Is a redesign cheaper than a new website?

Not always. If the current site ranks, a redesign adds redirects, metadata and sitemap work that a new build does not need. If nobody finds the current site, a redesign costs about the same as starting fresh.

  • Does Berryn build websites on their own?

Yes. The website is included in the full brand, and a website on its own is priced on its scope. Our minimum commitment starts at $4,000 USD. The exact price depends on the scope, and you get it on the first call, before anything starts. The price is fixed and never by the hour.
